RECIPE: FRENCH CHOCOLATE
December 08, 2024
Publisher’s Note:
Back in the 1970’s, the Beattyville Women’s Club offered a cookbook with recipes from women in the community. Our dear family friend, Ruth Morton, gifted one of these cookbooks to my grandmother and fellow columnist, Betty Crabtree. My grandmother has now passed the cookbook on to me, and we are going to start sharing these recipes with our readers each week just exactly how it was written. ENJOY!
FRENCH CHOCOLATE
2 ½ sq. bitter chocolate
1 c. cold water
½ tsp salt
¾ c. sugar
½ c. whipping cream
Milk
Combine chocolate and water; cook for about 20 minutes or until smooth and thick, stirring constantly. Add salt and sugar; cook for 4 minutes. Cool. Whip cream; fold into cooled chocolate mixture. Store in refrigerator until ready to use. Heat milk to just below boiling. Add 1 teaspoon chocolate mixture to each cup milk. Blend and serve
